2010 Hanover Select Program
For the fifth year in a row Hanover Lacrosse Club will form select teams in multiple age brackets to compete in summer tournaments. The club is committed to an open and fair tryout process that will available to all 2010 players. The club follows US Lacrosse rules and strictly follows the age bracket guidelines for youth players. The Hanover Select teams are the only teams that Hanover Lacrosse Club organizes and oversees outside of the regular spring season.
The select team is an opportunity for Hanover players to play as a unit in regional tournaments. Beginning in 2006, Hanover Lacrosse Club won the first Summer Slam U11 bracket. Last season, the U13 Hanover LC won the Battle of Williamsburg and played in the Championship game of the Southern Classic in Charlottesville. The U11 Select played in the finals of the Summer Slam tournament in Chesterfield which has grown to be one of the largest tournaments on the east coast and won the U11 Southern Classic. The goal of the Hanover Lacrosse Club Select teams is to provide a fun, competitive learning experience for our experienced players that allows them to improve their skills and become better lacrosse players.
The select teams are separate from the regular season teams. Each select team divides the costs of tournaments and expenses among the players. Hanover LC, does not subsidize any of the select teams. The cost of the select teams includes tournament fee, additional county use fees, and ref fees. All coaches are unpaid volunteers. The cost of the select team will be ~$150 due after the selections have been made.
In preparation for the tournaments the teams will schedule additional practices prior to the end of the regular season. The U15 & U13 will have several additional games against other travel and private school teams. For the U15’s, (4) games have already been tentatively scheduled with area teams and we are waiting on the completion of the private school regular season schedules before final confirmation and releasing of dates/times.
