Statement about registration for 2010 Atlee varsity team
Atlee Parents and Players – With 2010 spring registration now open, many parents have asked which team they should register their son for. Atlee High School has only authorized a varsity club team, despite the Hanover Lacrosse Club’s request to field a junior varsity team. HLC has also only been allocated one field for the varsity team.
The 2010 Atlee varsity team will be made up of a maximum of 22-25 players determined by tryouts the first week of practice. If you would like to tryout for Atlee varsity team, register for the Atlee team on the website.
As with most varsity sports, the varsity team will be made up of mostly juniors and seniors, with the possibility of including a few freshmen and sophomores. The players will be judged on experience, skill level, physical maturity, mental maturity, coachability, adapting to the team and commitment to the team. We are looking for players that will be committed to practice and games for the whole season, barring unforeseen circumstances.
You may ask, what if i don't make the varsity team? Hanover Lacrosse Club will have at least one and possibly two Hanover Lacrosse Club high school teams which will practice and play games at Pole Green Park. These teams will play a full schedule in a player developmental environment.
A player that doesn’t feel he is ready to play varsity high school lacrosse should register for the Hanover Heat team, which will also consist of high school players. We are projecting to have up to 9 seniors returning to the Atlee team for the 2010 season. This should be an inncentive for younger players that feel they are not ready for varsity play this season.
