For Boys and Girls in PreK & Kindergarten
 

Registration - 06/20/21 - 9/1/21 - $60 (includes pinnie)

We are very excited to build upon the success of the previous winter and spring programs and provide a fun opportunity for our Lil Laxhawks to continue to grow in this great sport during the fall season.  This program is targeted at younger players - PreK and Kindergarten - to provide an introduction to lacrosse using lacrosse centered games and focused rotating stations.  We will use Fiddle Sticks and a safe, soft ball and work our way up to internal scrimmage game play (3v3).      

  • Season: Sunday afternoons, September 12th through October 17th
  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose fields
  • Uniform: All kids will receive a pinnie to wear for practice and a fall ball t-shirt.     
  • Equipment:  No equipment required.

Blackhawk Lacrosse will host a 6-week clinic designed for beginners. Sessions are held on Sunday afternoons.  This program is open to girls in grades 3 through 7 who have little to no experience in girls’ lacrosse.  Players will learn fundamental stick skills (throwing, catching, scooping, cradling), along with the offensive and defensive skills necessary to build a solid game foundation.  In addition, players will become familiar with girls’ lacrosse rules and how the game is played through modified game situations.  Space is limited, so early registration is recommended!

 

  • Season: September 12th through October 17th (Rain Make Up October 24th)
  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose Field #1 or #2
  • Time: Sunday afternoons, specific time TBA
  • Equipment:  Players will need to provide their own girls' lacrosse stick, eye cage and mouth guard.

Sessions are held on Sunday afternoons with emphasis on learning the fundamental lacrosse skills.  At this level, players learn skills in a clinic format with game situations introduced in the later weeks. Games are played intra-squad, small-sided, on a modified field with coaches on the field providing instruction.  This is a recreational program open to players of all experience levels.

Sessions will be 1 hour and 30 minutes and are held on Sunday afternoons. 30-minute practice/warm-up followed by a game.  Games are played 7v7 plus goalie.

This is a recreational program open to players of all experience levels. Please note this is a game-only league with limited instruction time before games.  The 7v7 game format allows for fun, fast-paced games with lots of touches!

NOTE: Not recommended for brand new players—if you have never played lacrosse, we recommend the 6-week Beginner Clinic.

  • Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose Field #1 or #2

Blackhawk Lacrosse Boys Recreational Program 
This program will be offered to boys in 1st and 2nd grade. This program is designed for beginner and experienced players. The Rec program will focus primarily on the fundamentals of the game, skill development, and proper lacrosse techniques.

·       Season: September 12th through October 31st

 

·       Location: Pole Green Park, Multipurpose Field #1 or #2

·       Time:  Sunday afternoons, 4:30 pm (depending on field availability may move start time to 2:30 pm)

·       Uniform: All players must have a Blackhawk Lacrosse uniform (you can purchase one after registration if you do not have one from last fall/winter/summer from iBrand sports).

·       Equipment: Players will need to provide their own boys' lacrosse stick, helment, elbow pads, shoulder pads, and mouth guard.

·       Format:

o   Practices:  1x/week (tentatively Sundays 4:30 pm starting Sept 12th)

§  ​Practices will be focused on fundamentals.

§  Later weeks will lead to game play.

o   Players: 4v4 format (max 6v6) with optional goalie or shot blocker. Coaches on field.

o   Games:  Games will be against other Blackhawk Rec teams

This season the boys 3/4 program will conform to US Lacrosse rules utilizing a 7v7 game on a modified field. This provides the boys more touches, greater opportunity to create lacrosse plays and a better opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game. o   Games:   Games will be played as described in the practice section. 

o   Rules: No body checking permitted. Legal stick checks and poke checking techniques will be focused on at this age level.
